Villages of Feneos

Feneos is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful mountain regions in the Prefecture of Korinthia. The small villages with the stone-built houses are surrounded by dense forests. The artificial lake of Doxa will remind you of an alpine landscape as the peaks of the mountains are reflected in the crystal waters. Here you will also find the monastery of St. George. The plateau of Feneos gathers the waters from Olvio and Doxa Rivers so a natural lake was created there. However, there are catacombs in the area that help the draining of the plateau. A legend says that the catacombs were built by Hercules for this reason and another legend says that they were the entrances to Hades, the underworld.
